Cultivating Young Leaders

Cultivating Young Leaders is a 6-week urban agriculture program for youth between the ages of 12-17.  It is a summer program that will take place June 8th thru July 13, 2026. Participants will meet once of week on Mondays at the garden.  Participants will learn how to prep soil for growth, when to plant seeds, and how to provide the nutrition those seeds need to grow into produce. The process of planting a seed, watering, and caring for the plant, harvesting it, and eventually eating it, will allow participants in the program to see the start and finish of their food and labor.

Students will receive a small stipend for their participation each week.

Cultivating Young Leaders program participants will also learn entrepreneur skills while working with beehives. Participants will learn how bees play an important role in our environment and the food grown for human consumption.

Interested participants MUST attend a mandatory Orientation with their parent or guardian that will be held Monday June 1st at 10:00 am or Saturday, June 6th at 10:30am, at My Mother’s Community Garden, 1305

 W Martin, Peoria Il 61605

REGISTRATION FOR THE SUMMER PROGRAM IS  NOW CLOSED. We have reached capacity. We will be offering other programs in August.
